Thing a Day #9

Day9

I want to post my Thing a Day #7 but it was a Valentine and I'd rather keep it secret until I know where it'll go.

#8 was a continuation of my hat.

#9 - 4 apple seeds + the stem = flower.

Thing a Day 3-6: Mushroom Hat in Progress!

5424507327_2bde831265

I've begun working on the 2nd version of a slouchy hat using the "Mushroom Hat" pattern by the Purl Bee.  http://www.purlbee.com/mushroom-hat/

The first version came out alright but it's a bit too wide so it keeps falling over my eyes and well, a bit *too* slouchy.   This version has 16 less cast-on stitches and it's made of a lovely, handspun alpaca yarn.  :D

Slouchy hats are bigger than a standard beanie so it's like knitting 1.5 hats..  so it seems like its construction will make up several "things" this month.

I may be a bit late to the posting bit of this... I've been working on projects since the February 1st but have managed terribly to document this!

For Days 1 & 2, I decided to work on 3 smaller projects (of varying time effort):
- sewing on a missing button
- crochet last couple of rows on pocket scarf
- knit crown on red hat

Whoo!

Thing 28: Collage

Screen-shot-2010-03-02-at-6

It's been a lot of fun doing this Thing-a-Day.  Since Flickr is so awesome and I've organized my photos (one of my "things"), here's a collage as my final "thing".

I'd love to stay in touch.

Feel free to read my blog (and leave a comment!), browse my shop or follow me on Twitter.

Thing 27

4395186538_5bb0e41d7c

After cleaning up my craft space earlier this week, I rediscovered my beloved compass from childhood.

I used to make these w/my mom which she learned as a child also.  It starts off with a circle.  Then, take the compass point and place it anywhere on the circle - make a half circle.  Then, place the compass point on one of those points and make another half circle.. etc.  To get more lines as in this one, place the compass point between the "leaves" that are created.  I'm sure there are other versions of this.. curious to see if anyone else made these.

Things 25 and 26

Something new: cozies with snaps!  These 2 are for friends - one for an Android phone and the other for a camera (the sizes widely differ)

Did someone say cozies w/ribbons?  Why yes, I've made a couple more of those.  They may be popping up in the shop soon...

Heya,

My 22nd "thing" is writing up a revised legwarmer pattern of my own.  Check it out on my blog.
